About half a million demonstrators participate  in London as part of an international campaign on the first full day of Donald Trump's presidency on January 21, 2017. The London march is one of almost 700  sister marches taking place in over sixty countries, organisers aim to highlight women's rights issues, which they perceive to be under threat from the new US administration. The London march is one of almost 700 sister marches taking place in over sixty countries, organisers aim to highlight women's rights issues, which they perceive to be under threat from the new US administration. Some of the anti-Trump posters included one featuring the image of a Bangladeshi American Munira Ahmed taken by Queen's based photograph Ridwan Adhami.

Protesters from the Kurdish community demonstrate outside the BBC offices on January 8, 2017 demanding for democratic reform in their homeland following President Erdoganís crackdown against Kurdish communities which lead to arrests of several politicians, for allegedly supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The militant party which was founded by Abdullah ÷calan, a Kurdish nationalist leader who was arrested and imprisoned in 1999. The Kurdish  groups have been demanded separation from Turkey to create an independent Kurdistan since the PKK was founded in 1978. Protesters from the Kurdish community demonstrate outside the BBC offices on January 8, 2017. They were demanding for democratic reform in their homeland following President Erdogan's crackdown against Kurdish communities which lead to arrests of several journalist including Derya Okatan and politicians including Selahattin Demirtas and Figen Yuksekdag of the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) for allegedly supporting the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). The militant party which was founded by Abdullah Ocalan, a Kurdish nationalist leader who was arrested and imprisoned in 1999. The Kurdish groups have been demanded separation from Turkey to create an independent Kurdistan since the PKK was founded in 1978.
